Us
Dr. Day Care's Child Development Center for Learning and Play is led by Mary Ann Shallcross Smith, Ed.D, known as "Dr. Day Care." Mary Ann began her career as an early childhood and school age professional in 1972 when she started her home - based day care in her home in Lincoln, RI.In 1987 Dr. Shallcross Smith co-founded Kids Klub Inc., a non-profit day care, Kids Klub is located in various locations throughout Rhode Island. She has successfully operated early childhood centers for 33 years.
During her business career, she attended college and received her doctorate degree (Ed.D) in leadership and human development studies in 1995.
At this time, Mary Ann’s passion is meeting the needs of children and their families needs by providing quality care and education for children. Together, she and her highly qualified team of professionals, are successfully accomplished leaders in the child care profession.
Mary Ann is the parent of three adults and the grandparent of three wonderful grandsons. She writes many articles for publications in the area of child development and is known as "Dr. Day Care!”
